******************************************************************************************************************* VENUS RETROGRADE... AGONY OR ECSTASY? IT'S UP TO YOU! VENUS, the Goddess of love and money, will turn retrograde at 3:06am on Friday, October 8, and will continue in a tailspin until November 18. VENUS retrogrades are notorious for conjuring questions about the relative WORTH of what and who you've attracted to you. Have you overvalued that which has too easily ended up in your lap? Or are you underappreciating juicy opportunities waiting right under your nose? Whatever the case, when VENUS goes retrograde, she takes your hand and pulls you into the darkness of your relationships. This journey is ultimately about the agony and the ectasy of heightened intimacy and vulnerability. Be prepared for a roller coaster ride with your deeper emotions and to experience the full spectrum of your feelings, and emerge cleansed...a wiser soul and better able to forge the kind of bonds which make you know you are loved. This is a good time to think and talk about issues, review and discuss what has worked well for you before and what has not. Reflect on issues related to your relationships, finances and self-worth. This is NOT the time to finalize either commitments or separations, as the value or lack thereof in the relationship might not be apparent to you now. With VENUS retrograde, the pace of relationships slows down, so this is not the best time to get married, engaged, or give big parties. Relationships won't actually break up more than usual, but many will notice that there's no progress. VENUS retrograde is never a time to ask your partner to make changes. Since VENUS rules diplomacy, slowdowns in all sorts of negotiations can be expected, including industrial disputes,legal issues and diplomatic endeavors. Unresolved issues from the past will come forward and demand resolution. Retrogrades are times when a planet's energy is redirected inward, so the whole world experiences it on a more internal level. This is a time when you are called upon to go back and take care of unfinished business. Often you are forced to deal with deep feelings that have their origins in past events. They are activated on an inner level but are often difficult to express to yourself or others while VENUS is retrograde. Things will become clearer when the retrograde is over on November 18. VENUS often uses her retrograde to test your perspective on recent romantic and/or financial dealings. She will tempt you with come hither looks from an intriguingly, hot stranger across the room or a glittery can't-lose, must-act fast career proposition. She'll bring back an old lover (the one who got away?) or reopen a door long presumed closed, to see whether in fact the business is perhaps unfinished. And she's only satisfied once she has you asking yourself: DOES THIS PERSON OR THING STILL TURN ME ON? HAS MY ATTACHMENT RUN ITS COURSE, OR AM I FEELING A RENEWAL OF INTEREST? WILL I GAMBLE THIS 'SAFE THING' I'VE SETTLED FOR, SO I MIGHT ENTER INTO AN ARRANGEMENT BETTER SUITED TO ME? VENUS will spend much of her latest retrograde in deeply intense, powerful SCORPIO. where she is in detriment (not at home) and thus not at her best. VENUS' discomfort in SCORPIO enables her to stir sufficient controversy in your relationships, so you may blow the cover off, forcing you to confront the renegade desires, unspoken resentments, or inescapable inequities lying underneath the pleasant surfaces. As long as you resist openly acknowledging these inconvenient psychological truths about yourself, commonly called your shadow or dark side, it will crop up, unintegrated and unconscious, when you least want it to. You may behave inexplicably, with hair-trigger responses, excessive emotion far out of proportion to what's superficially happening. You may act against your own interests, unaware of how repressed feelings misdirect you to the wrong explanation. You may continue parroting out-of-date stories, letting your words contradict your conduct...obvious to many of the folks around you that there's something deeper you're not confronting, though you may be fairly oblivious to it yourself. This VENUS retrograde dares you to face up, more or less consciously, to such deeper truths. As you're compelled further into moody interactions or touchy conversations, forbidden lusts, secretive conversations or extenuating conditions, you cannot help but feel as if your carefully preserved control (or the illusion of it anyway) is slipping away. VENUS in SCORPIO is always aware of the tradeoff: I give this, I receive that in return. Under VENUS' SCORPIO retrograde, you review the calculations in order to ensure the deal still works to your advantage. The real focus now is on your relationship with yourself...your self-worth and self-esteem...and this time is especially good for acts of kindness and love toward yourself. So many times when the people close to us are aggravating or frustrating, the problem is with us, not them. It's important during VENUS retrograde to take some time and space for yourself, to understand and manage your feelings. Especially if there is anxiety or anger, just recognize and honor the fears and hurt feelings that are underneath. Just by recognizing and honoring them, you create inner peace. VENUS retrograde is always a fantastic time to review and reevaluate the ways you make and spend money. When VENUS resumes direct motion, you will have a better idea where adjustments are needed. This can be a poor time to make a major purchase, as the true worth of an item becomes difficult to assess. One of the important aspects of the VENUS retrograde period is the theme of letting go. A cycle is ending or has ended and you have to accept this in order to be able to fully move ahead in a new way. Because during most of this period VENUS will be in the sign of SCORPIO, your feelings are apt to be very intense during this cycle and you may want to spend time revisiting old wounds as well as old friends. In fact, often people from your past suddenly contact you during VENUS retrograde periods. Usually it's a check-in to see how you're doing, sort of another stage of the letting go or cutting of the chord aspect of this cycle. Sometimes you need this, and you may not even know why you feel the need to connect with someone from your past. Whatever the specifics are, it's time to make room for the new and that requires a true confronting of the parts of you that are still clinging to the past. The most important part of this cycle though may be connected to dealing with aspects of relationships you have now. This is a great time to get in touch with your true feelings about your significant personal and business relationships and to then decide if you want to work on the issues the two of you have together. Couples may enter therapy now, or, on the other hand, decide to end the relationship. If this is the outcome though, it suggests that the relationship has been struggling for quite a while and you are just finally coming to the conclusion that the problems cannot improve or change. In other words, when it comes to relationships, this is the time to either deal with things or let go.
